A Message From Our Founder

Updated: May 7, 2023

Ubuntu: I am because we are.

Ubuntu is a concept originating in Africa that articulates what 4B4 Education, Inc. (4B4) represents: building bridges of love and compassion that reflect our common destiny and connection. As the founder of this organization, I invite you to journey with us towards this goal.

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to affirm the goodness in humanity and to uplift the human spirit. This mission is enacted through our educational programs, service projects, interfaith collaborations, social justice initiatives, holistic wellness programs, spiritual retreats, and more. In an increasingly disconnected and demoralized environment, we believe that meaningful connection between diverse people fosters a more compassionate, just, and peaceful world now and for the generations to come.

This mission is urgent! As our logo suggests, the Sankofa bird with its egg on its back represents our acknowledgment that those who are here today are here because of those who came before, and we have a responsibility to retrieve and ensure the best possible outcomes for those who follow us. As someone who has experienced the power of these types of collaboration firsthand, I am committed to this mission. I have witnessed how dialogue and service can break down barriers and build bridges between people who may have previously seen each other as the "other." 4B4 Education prioritizes diversity and inclusion in all our programs and initiatives. We recognize that true collaboration requires us to embrace the richness and complexity of each person's identity, rather than trying to homogenize or erase our differences.

Through our curated education experiences, we provide opportunities for people to learn about different faith traditions and world views, and to explore commonalities and differences in a respectful and meaningful way. Our service projects allow people of different faiths to work together on projects that benefit their communities, building relationships and trust along the way. And our dialogue programs create space for honest and open conversations about difficult topics, such as race, gender, and politics.

I am humbled by the community’s response to 4B4’s work so far, and I am excited about the potential, with your help, to make meaningful impacts in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia metropolitan (DMV) communities, nationally, and globally. I hope you will join us in this mission, whether by attending one of our events, volunteering your time and skills, or donating to support our work.

Thank you for visiting our website and learning more about 4B4 Education. I invite you to explore our programs, connect with us on social media, and stay tuned for updates on our blog

With Gratitude and Hope,
